In recent years JASAL has published a special issue on the theme of the annual ASAL conference. This year’s special issue will be based on the ASAL2009 conference theme of Common Readers and Cultural Critics, and will be edited by conference organisers Russell Smith and Monique Rooney. On 14-15 January 2010, Australian Literature at the University of Sydney in association with the American Association for Australian Literary Studies (AAALS) and the Association for the Study of Australian Literature (ASAL) will host a symposium on Reading Across the Pacific: Australian-United States Intellectual Histories.
